Once your vehicle has passed its MOT test you will be issued with an MOT test certificate and a copy of the MOT failure certificate.
If your vehicle should fail its MOT, you will have 14 days in which to effect repairs and present the vehicle back to the MOT station where you will get a free retest. This is of course dependant on your vehicle having enough time left before the old MOT expires. You can present the vehicle for an MOT test up to 30 days before the MOT runs out without losing any time on the next MOT so ensure you plan ahead in case your vehicle does fail.
Our sophisticated booking system will automatically send you a reminder 50 weeks after your last visit, to give you enough time to book your next test (providing you leave us with an email address and/or a mobile phone number).
The penalty for not having a valid MOT certificate could be a fine. Also, if the vehicle is involved in an incident you may be asked to produce your certificate. An insurance claim could be affected by the absence of your MOT.
The penalty for driving without an MOT can be up to a maximum of £1000! and Police Vehicles with ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) cameras fitted, know whether you have one or not straight away.
